CHRIST THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE

We may try the path of proof-texting our way into aberrant mindsets about God and ourselves. As I read reputable theologians - those who know the truth that sets people free because truth is life – I am excited about the way God appears in an increasingly better light. It’ not abnormal to have absorbed a view of a mean God. Father of lies told more than one initial lie. The Enemy has spawned a culture of lies – lies that would put out the truth and meaning of the cross if we did not let the Spirit of life do His work. Thankfully the darkness will never quell the Light and the light will eventually triumph. But we need to be active ‘agree – ers’ with the Light and not form a procession of passive slaves who have accommodated ourselves to a culture of cunningly devised fables.
AGREE WITH GOD
This applies to God’s truth in general and our reading of the Bible in particular. To avoid attachments to ‘other gospels’ and all forms of religious humbug, “We should understand the Bible as pointing away from itself, under the leading of the Spirit of Truth, to Jesus Christ Himself. The biblical statements do not exhaustively contain God’s truth but indicate more than what can be reduced to words. Since the scriptures point away from themselves to the truth, they are not “the” truth in themselves (even though they are “true”). (1) Only Christ is Truth in Himself. He urged that they point to Him.
EMBRACE GOD’S THEOLOGY OF HIMSELF AND OF YOU
You need to know that the ground of our being and the foundation of the Kingdom of God is the incarnation – Christ in you; the trinity in you. The Christ of God manifesting as you and all who believe. This is how the righteous life of Jesus and the joy and togetherness of the trinity gets to be our life. By the incarnation and perichoresis they are as so much us that we are ourselves. Thus, we have the advancing new creation on earth.
